DJI releases Zenmuse H30 payloads for M300, M350 RTK drones

Tech giant DJI has released new all-weather, multi-sensor aerial payloads — Zenmuse H30 and H30T — for the Matrice 300 RTK and Matrice 350 RTK drone platforms. Primed for day and night use alike, these products will especially interest public safety responders and energy inspection professionals.

The H30T integrates five major modules: a wide-angle camera, zoom camera, infrared thermal camera, laser range finder, and NIR auxiliary light. The H30, meanwhile, features four modules: a wide-angle camera, a zoom camera, a laser range finder, and the NIR auxiliary light.

The high-resolution 40MP zoom camera is particularly fascinating because it supports up to 34×optical zoom and 400×digital zoom for public safety, emergency rescue, and critical infrastructure inspection use cases. It would even allow you to read a license plate from as far as 650m away!

In smoggy or high atmospheric humidity conditions, the Electronic Dehazing function comes into play to enhance the zoom camera’s image clarity. At the same time, the image stabilization algorithm reduces shaking, delivering stable and clear imagery for tasks such as detailed power line inspections.

Meanwhile, the laser range finder also provides positioning information for subjects between 3 m to 3000 m away, delivering 2.5 times better results than the previous generation.

In low-light conditions, the zoom and wide-angle cameras of the DJI Zenmuse H30 series seamlessly switch to Night Scene mode. The zoom camera in Night Scene mode also supports IR Light for infrared enhancement and NIR illumination, enhancing night overwatch and search-and-rescue operations.

You also get to choose between full-color night vision and black-and-white night vision live views and high-quality recordings. Additionally, the zoom and wide-angle cameras can use the Smart Capture mode’s intelligent image algorithms to automatically assess the brightness of an environment’s ambient lighting to produce photos with natural transitions between light and dark while capturing rich details.

Coming to the infrared thermal camera of the H30T, you get a 1280×1024 resolution with up to 32× digital zoom. It can measure temperatures up to 1600° C (2912° F), aiding firefighters in hotspot detection. Additionally, its three infrared gain modes can assist search and rescue teams in identifying minor temperature differences between objects, people, and animals.

The UHR (Ultra-High Resolution) Infrared Image function gets activated automatically at higher zoom levels, ensuring clear infrared images. With Link Zoom, visual light and thermal images can be compared side-by-side for quicker subject location. Users can also concurrently control the zoom on both the infrared thermal camera and zoom camera, keeping their FOVs aligned at all times and facilitating swift subject detection.

For rescue missions, the H30 series also supports pre-recording on the app for up to 30 seconds. This aids first responders in gathering evidence and capturing scenes leading up to the recording.

Available to buy from authorized DJI Enterprise dealers, the DJI Zenmuse H30 series has an IP54 dust and water resistance rating. It can also operate in extreme temperatures from -20° to 50° C (-4° to 122° F).

Christina Zhang, senior director of corporate strategy at DJI, says, “The unparalleled visuals from this trustworthy payload will no doubt enhance the effectiveness of drone pilots aiding search and rescue operations, firefighting efforts, utility inspections, and conservation efforts. As DJI‘s most integrated and powerful enterprise flagship payloads, they are designed to serve multiple critical industries.”
