Nine out of ten schools who top-performed in the May 2024 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE) are from the regions, led by a three-way tie for first place shared by universities based in Cavite, Quezon Province, Davao, according to the official results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Tuesday, May 14.

All three first-placers garnered a 100% passing rate. Indang, Cavite-based Cavite State University (CvSU) saw all its 179 takers overcome the exam; Lucban, Quezon’s Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) went for 69/69; while University of Mindanao-Davao City had a perfect 63/63.

Rounding out the top five are second-ranked Gordon College (formerly Olongapo City College) with a passing rate of 98.99% (98 of 99), University of Pangasinan in third place with 98.26% (169 of 172), fourth-placer Saint Paul University-Tuguegarao with 98.24% (167/170), and Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation at the fifth with 98.11% (156 of 159). FEU-NRMF is the only Metro Manila-based institution in the top ten list.

Meanwhile, St. Jude College-Dasmariñas product Abigail Cayanan emerged atop after scoring 92.60%. Jim Jerico Uy of Saint Paul University - Tuguegarao ranked second (91.80), while SLSU-Lucban’s Mark Vhinne Colandog and Adventist University of the Philippines’ Zynarik Tabelisma are tied in third place. 

A total of 7,749 examinees out of 11,116 takers passed the May 2024 Nurses Licensure Examination, good for a 69.72% national passing rate, a decrease from the November 2023 NLE results that saw 80% of takers overcome the board exams.
