Guy Ritchie now has a third movie, titled Wife and Dog, in development. Ritchie has just come off of directing this year's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which released in theaters last month. Embedded in the world of the British aristocracy, the WW2 action film told a based-on-a-true-story narrative of a group of soldiers hired by the British military to strike down Nazi forces. It features a leading cast including Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, and Eiza González.

Now, Variety announces another project from Ritchie, titled Wife and Dog. This film will return Ritchie to the world of the British upper class, telling the story of a “colorful, back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy.” The exact plot and cast is currently under wraps, but it will supposedly feature a group of A-listers. Black Bear is launching sales for Wife and Dog, which is written by Ritchie and produced by him alongside Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg, with Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler on as executive producers.

Ritchie Has Released Movies And Shows Alike, With More On The Way

Even with Wife and Dog’s plot largely unknown, the return to a British aristocratic setting is an exciting one for Ritchie. The director succeeded in this recently with The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which featured memorable characters. He has also explored similar worlds in movies such as his adaptation of Sherlock Holmes in 2009, as well as its follow-up, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is available in select theaters and to rent on VOD.

Wife and Dog will be the 18th feature film directed by Ritchie. This number is a starling feat on its own, but its impressiveness is even further compounded by the fact that Ritchie has had such an active year already. In addition to The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, he was behind the Netflix series The Gentleman, which is an adaptation of his own 2019 film of the same name. As such, Wife and Dog is re-establishing Ritchie as one of the most active directors out there.

Guy Ritchie could face a big challenge with his anticipated second live-action Disney remake following the mixed critical reception of 2019's Aladdin.

Proving his busy schedule, Wife and Dog is also not the only Ritchie project currently in development. He is reportedly adapting a live-action version of Hercules, though that is likely far from release. The director is also helming the 2025 action film In the Grey, which is set to feature The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’s González and Cavill alongside Rosamund Pike, Fisher Stevens, and Jake Gyllenhaal. He is also working on a mystery film called Fountain of Youth, starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinski. Between these projects and the just-announced Wife and Dog, Ritchie’s packed slate rages onward.
