A sub for Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” about J. Robert Oppenheimer & his involvement in developing the atomic bomb. As I’m watching Twin Peaks season 3 for the first time after the original run and Fire Walk With Me, I get to episode 8 and am met with a random trinity test sequence. This kind of thing is typical with the show, but the black and white imagery and particularly the shots as the camera dives inside the mushroom cloud where you see wildly moving particles and flames reminds me a lot of the sfx sequences from Oppenheimer.
You can see some of those shots in this video around the 6:00 mark (couldnt find a standalone clip from the show, apologies).
I think it raises some interesting questions like was Nolan inspired by this scene, or perhaps the people who made the particle shots beside him? Has anyone else seen this show and made the same connections (if they exist beyond coincidental similarity)?
