Stewie2K registered on G2 lineup for IEM Dallas

The former Liquid and Cloud9 star said he is "grateful" for the opportunity to play at the event and praised two of the team's players.

Update 18:45 : In a post on X, Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip thanked G2 "for the chance to compete and to potentially play in front of a home crowd" in Dallas and said that he is relishing the chance to play alongside Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov.

Stewie2K has been officially submitted as part of G2's lineup for IEM Dallas, ESL's tournament overview document widely shared with broadcast partners and other parties shows.

The 26-year-old is expected to stand in for Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen, who will miss the Texas event due to attending his sister's wedding, according to G2.

Barring emergency situations, ESL doesn't allow lineup adjustments beyond the deadline. G2's lineup features three substitutes, but with one being HooXi and the other two being managers of the team, Stewie2K's attendance is all but confirmed.

IEM Dallas will thus mark Stewie2K's return to LAN for the first time since he attended the PGL Major Antwerp RMR with Evil Geniuses over two years ago.

Since his ill-fated stint with the all-but-defunct organization, Stewie2K recently featured on Legacy's roster for the Esports World Cup NA closed qualifier as a stand-in, and averaged a 0.95 rating facing off against top teams in the region.

IEM Dallas is taking place from May 27-June 2, with G2 set on a collision course with Falcons in the opening round of Group A.
