Chris Pratt's Former Stunt Double Tony McFarr Dead at 47

Tony McFarr, a Hollywood stunt performer who worked as Chris Pratt's stunt double in the Jurassic World movies and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, has died. He was 47.

McFarr was found dead on Monday, May 13, Florida's Orange County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed to PEOPLE. While an exam has already taken place, a cause of death remains pending the results of a toxicology report.

TMZ was first to report McFarr's death, noting that his mother Donna said he died unexpectedly at his home just outside Orlando.

IMDb credits McFarr with working as a stunt performer on 60 total productions between 2011 and 2022; he worked as a stunt double on Bones and blockbusters like 2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 before first connecting with Pratt, 44, on the set of 2015's Jurassic World.

McFarr went on to perform as Pratt's stunt double in his 2016 movie Passengers, 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy sequel and 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. He also worked on Marvel movies like Captain America: Civil War and Ant-Man and the Wasp and additionally served as Jon Hamm's stunt double on the 2018 comedy Tag.

Pratt shared a photo of McFarr in costume as his character Star-Lord on the Guardians of the Galaxy set all the way back in 2016 on Instagram.

In the post, he noted the trilogy's second movie had completed filming. "Here's me and my stunt-man Tony McFarr (also Tommy Harper stunt coordinator and our first AD Lars Winther) on set," Pratt wrote in that caption. "Been working with Tony since Jurassic World. Love you buddy! Happy wrap!"

McFarr was also credited as an actor in six roles between 2007 and 2016 in episodes of the series Burn Notice, One Tree Hill, Army Wives, Graceland and the CBS MacGyver reboot series, as well as the 2016 movie Cell. His most recent Hollywood credits came for stunt work on 2021's The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
