  • One Minecraft fan spotted 'Steam' under platforms on Xbox, seemingly hinting at the game coming to Valve's storefront after over a decade.
  • Fans are already excited at the idea of Workshop support, invite functionality, and full community integration, claiming they'll double dip and buy the game again.
  • If Minecraft does come to Steam, it would also likely mean native Deck support, rather than having to fiddle with third-party apps.

Minecraft is one of the most successful games of all time, but over a decade after launching, it still isn't available on the biggest PC gaming platform. In the years since, spin-offs like Dungeons and Legends have been released on Valve's storefront, but the original is still nowhere to be seen. That might finally be changing.

As pointed out by Reddit user NikNikYT, Xbox lists Steam under platforms for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition when trying to claim MineCoins. Some have suggested that this is because MineCoins can be used in Legends, which is available on Steam, but the platforms are specifically listed for the Bedrock Edition.

It's worth noting that something similar happened earlier this year with The Sims 4. The official website listed Nintendo Switch as a platform, so fans assumed it was coming to handheld, but EA clarified that it was a mistake.

Plenty are already excited at the mere idea of Minecraft on Steam, claiming that they'd double dip and buy the game again if it turned out to be true. It's easy to see why, as Minecraft on Steam could mean workshop support for easier modding, badges, profile items, community integration, and invite functionality for servers and realms.

Minecraft Could Finally Come To Steam Deck Natively

One of the best things about this news, if it isn't a mistake, is that Minecraft would be playable on Steam Deck without having to download any third-party apps or changing to the Windows OS system.

Right now, if you want to play Minecraft on Steam Deck, you can either get the Java version via Prism launcher or stream it through Game Pass. With official support, however, you could download the Bedrock edition straight onto your Deck and have full controller support without any hassle.
