HOUSTON – Houston’s newest resident is still getting used to the city’s crazy roads and the sad truth is, he probably never will.

I was born and raised in Houston and got used to how fast our drivers are, but the road hazards still catch me off guard. And unfortunately for some newcomers like Stefon Diggs, the wide receiver for the Houston Texans, they didn’t get the memo.

According to KPRC 2′s Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, when the Texans acquired Diggs, they made a huge adjustment to his contract. They eliminated the final three years of his original four-year, $96 million extension, per a league source. The Texans have now shifted $3.515 million guaranteed that Diggs was due in 2025 to 2024 and made this a one-year guaranteed $22.5 million contract that includes a $250,000 workout bonus and a $15,000 per game active roster bonus, up to $255,000.

Diggs took to X, formerly known as Twitter, in early May to first mention the wildness.

“Houston damn why yaw [sic] ain’t tell me you miss one exit you for sure added 17 minutes to the destination,” Diggs posted.

Oof! Sorry man. That’s one of the most stressful things about driving on these roads.

Missing an exit happens to the best of us, but whatever you do, resist the urge to lose your cool or cut through all the traffic.

Fortunately, Diggs seems to have no other complaints about the city noting on X about 10 days later he was “starting to get the hang” of driving on Houston highways.

But we forgot to tell our guy about potholes and speedbumps. 😬

“Yaw [sic] could have shared the roads get tricky,” Diggs said. “Potholes, speed bumps, and idk [sic] what to call them but they make my car go in the air damn near when I drive over them.”

That my friend, is just the road. I’m not sure why, but native Houstonians are pretty unsurprised about the road bumps. Like, we all KNOW our roads have potholes, and some of them get fixed and some don’t. I don’t know how to defend it.

We just act surprised when we drive over them or if our cars go up in the air let people say it’s cause we weren’t speeding.

By the way, practically everyone in Houston speeds. Just drive carefully.

Also, if another driver tries to come at you, the road rage is real. This is still Texas and you never know who is carrying a weapon or what people are capable of. Let it go.
