Aditi Rao Hydari shares Siddharth drew parallels between Heeramandi’s Bibbojaan and his Rang De Basanti character: ‘We have two freedom fighters in the house’

Aditi Rao Hydari portrays the character of Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated series, Heeramandi. Bibbojaan is a courtesan who leads a dual life as both a pleaser of nawabs and a covert freedom fighter. In a recent interaction, Aditi discussed how her fiance Siddharth drew parallels between her portrayal of Bibbojaan in Heeramandi and his character of Karan Singhania/Bhagat Singh in the iconic film Rang De Basanti.

Speaking about her recent engagement with Siddharth and his reaction to Heeramandi, she told Connect Cine, “I am really happy and excited. Siddharth is a very beautiful human being, a very true-hearted human being and hugely talented. Just listening to him speak about Heeramandi and Sanjay sir is so nice…it’s nice to have that kind of bond at home where you can talk about things that you love. I am very blessed.”

Siddharth’s portrayal of Karan Singhania in Rang De Basanti, who also embodies the real-life freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in flashbacks within the film, prompted him to draw connections between his character and her role as Bibbojaan. She recounted Siddharth’s observation and said, “He said that we have two freedom fighters in the house Karan Singhania and Bibbojaan.”

Earlier, Aditi had spoken about Siddharth’s reaction to Heeramandi. She revealed that Siddharth loved Heeramandi and expressed a desire to meet director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in person. “He loved Heeramandi. He was so overwhelmed that he couldn’t speak. He was crying and his eyes were swollen. He told me he wanted to meet Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir as soon as he could,” Aditi told Puja Talwar during an interview.
