Why did Mike get rid of the drugs?

In ‘ABQ’, the first episode we meet Mike, why did he get rid of the drugs in the apartment after Jane dies? While he’s there he tells Jesse that the cops ‘may not come out because overdoses are low priority.’ No one knows or even suspects Walt, or anyone for that matter was responsible for her death, and from the sounds of it, it was called in as an overdose. So what was Mike covering up?

Because the cops walking into an apartment with weed and heroin means you're getting arrested????

He went because Jesse called Saul, and Saul told Mike to go “clean up” the scene.

If they found drugs at the scene they could’ve charged Jesse with drug possession.

And dealing and perhaps negligent homicide/manslaughter and civil suit by her father etc..

I feel like this is a no brainer. If they find drugs in Jesses apartment he’ll be arrested for possession. Walt is connected to Jesse. The less law enforcement attention they can bring on either of them the better.

Heroin is illegal, OP.

Why did the guy who was sent there to prevent Jesse from getting arrested do things to prevent Jesse from getting arrested?

Jesus fuckin Christ

Jesse getting charged and going to jail for possession of illegal narcotics. Could lead to unintentional manslaughter charges. Jesse could say she came over overdosed did her drugs elsewhere.

Have you ever seen Breaking Bad? It was on AMC like ten years ago. I think you'd like it. It's been off the air a while, but lots of places still stream it, it was very popular back then and still has a strong following. Try Googling for it, I'm sure you'll find it with no trouble.

What is it called again? Breaking The Bad? I’ll check it out

I thought it was called Breaking The Bed so I didn't watch, too much prurient material on TV.

This is so obvious I can't believe anybody didn't get it: Mike was stealing the drugs because he's secretly a heroin addict. He knew Jesse was too sad to fight him over them because his girlfriend Janet had just died from an upset stomach.

Because an OD in your home with no drugs or paraphernalia of any kind >>>>>> an OD in your home with drugs and paraphernalia.

Not a personal knock on OP, but Holmes would call this “elementary”. Coroners show up and no drugs they take the body. If they see drugs they call the cops in. Otherwise she could have smacked up before she came to Jesse.

It’s actually a rather simple explanation, imo… Police show up to an overdose death, and there are more drugs in the house, it would likely spell trouble for Jesse . . . There has to be an assumption that Jesse could potentially spare himself by potentially throwing Walt under the bus…. Leading to unwanted attention and their illegal activities being discovered and possibly resulting in Gus, and his entire operation being uncovered.

Why do people have to be so rude in their answers here? It was an honest question that could have been handled respectfully. Everyone here is a fan. Let's be kind to each other.

Because it’s Reddit where everyone thinks they’re so much god damn smarter than everyone. I’ve seen this episode a thousand times and for some reason, this time made me think a little differently about what it is they were doing. So I asked. Boy was I wrong, lol.

In OP's defense it may not seem like a no brainer - but yeah, if you have an OD victim in your apartment, along with a quantity of heroin, the cops might make a connection. At worst he could face Manslaughter charges, at the least, he'd still get a possession charge (for the record, Heroin possession is far, far worse than being found with weed or even meth..)

Mike said the cops "may not" show up, but it's not uncommon for them to show up to overdose callouts. They may be low priority but in some instances cops may end up arriving before Paramedics to administer First-Aid & Narcan. Then once EMT arrive, they're free to question the others present. If Mike DIDN'T show up and remove all the drugs, AND the cops showed up, (or the paramedics arrived and also saw drugs all over the house..) Jesse would have very likely been arrested.

Only after he removed everything did he mention that "he'd be amazed if he was placed under arrest".

Ummmmmmm possession???

Because he called Saul? Mike was there to clean up any evidence that would get Jessie in trouble

And WTF was her dad doing there? That was so awkward. "I had sex with your dead daughter. She was alive at the time. She was alive last night. You just missed her."

u/Thebritishdovah avatar

Because he was hired to do so. Remove the drugs and instruct Jesse on what to tell the cops because the kid was involved with the drugs trade. Him getting busted for drugs is a risk that Jesse can't take.

Maybe you meant to ask this question on the r/Marijuana

Dude please don’t ever get involved with drugs. You would get caught immediately
