A special Oíche Cheoil fundraiser in aid of St Patrick’s church, Glann, will take place at The Brusna Inn on Friday, May 24, starting at 8pm. The Master of Ceremonies on the night will be Christy McCann who will introduce an array of musical talent, including: The Piper’s Cross Céilí Band who are the current All Ireland Senior Champions, The Collis family and Sylvie Golden, the Towey family, members of Kilmovee Comhaltas and for one night only to mark this special occasion, there will be a performance from past and present members of the Tavrane School Band. Seamus Coleman received a presentation from the Ballaghaderreen Tidy Towns Committee for his commitment to supporting the arts in Ballaghaderreen throughout his life. Seamus has not only added so much to the arts in Ballaghaderreen and internationally through his own paintings, but he has also supported other local artists by founding art exhibitions in the town, a tradition Ballaghaderreen Tidy Towns are keen to continue. Seamus said he was honoured to receive the presentation and that he hopes this tradition of showcasing local artistic talent has a long future in Ballaghaderreen.

The death took place of Aidan Freyne, Dalton Terrace, Ballaghaderreen, on April 29, (unexpectedly, yet peacefully) at home. Aidan was predeceased by his grandparents Paddy and Mary and his aunt Mary. He will be sadly missed and forever loved by his heartbroken family, his mother Noreen, his aunts Annette, Caitlin, uncles Padraic, Micheal and Bernard, his cousins, neighbours, relatives and friends.
Aidan's funeral cortege arrived to the Cathedral of the Annunciation and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen, on Thursday, May 2, for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Committal service took place at 3pm in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

The death took place in the care of Roscommon Hospice on Saturday, April 27, of John Mullooly, Ardmoyle, Killaraght, and Boyle. His passing after a short illness was received with sadness in Killaraght and surrounding areas. His remains reposed at Mahon's Funeral Home, Boyle, on Tuesday evening, April 30, and were removed to St Attracta's Church, Killaraght, on Wednesday morning for Funeral Mass. Burial took place afterwards in Killaraght New Cemetery.
John was predeceased by his wife Ann, parents Simon and Kathleen and brother Simon. Sympathy is extended to his family; John, Jacinta and her sons Jack and Declan, sister Attracta Jones and family, extended family and many friends. May he rest in Peace.
The death took place on May 2 of Joseph (Josie ) McDonagh, Knocklyon, Dublin and a native of Kilfree Junction, Gurteen. A noted bodhran player he was well known and news of his passing was received in his native area and beyond with great sadness. His remains reposed at his residence in Knocklyon on Sunday followed by removal to St Colmcille's Church on Monday for Mass of the Resurrection and afterwards going to St Patrick's Church, Gurteen, for Funeral liturgy and interment in Gurteen Cemetery.
Joseph was predeceased by his son Enda in 1985 and he is survived by his wife Helen and family - Aishling, Declan, Cillian and Finnian, grandchildren, brothers Matty, Peadar, Pat and Sean and sister Freda and extended family and many relations and friends. May he rest in peace.
