Charlie Daniels, a legendary songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist in country music, passed away in 2020 at the age of 83. The country community has been deeply saddened by the renowned country singer’s departure and has come out in force to show their support for Daniels.

With other country musicians who have spent the entire day and night on social media lamenting Daniels.

Daniels, who was raised in Nashville but was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, rose to prominence as a studio musician for some of the biggest names in rock music.

He collaborated with artists as diverse as Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, playing guitar, banjo, and—perhaps most famously—the fiddle, but the singer-songwriter is best known for his own band, the Charlie Daniels Band, which—along with the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Marshall Tucker Band—epitomized the emergence of southern rock in the 1970s and 1980s. In his early years, Daniels was most known for his fiddling on the classic song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which peaked at No. 1 in both the country and pop charts. However, Daniels’ popularity extended far beyond that.

The fearless singer-songwriter was highly renowned for being a great musician and having a magnetic personality. His political opinions were as varied as the musical genres he impacted.

In songs like “In America” (1980), “Simple Man,” and “(What the World Needs Is) A Few More Rednecks,” Daniels frequently conveyed a more abrasive, conservative tone (both in 1990).

Daniel continues to express in the song’s lyrics his belief that crimes like drug sales, theft, and murder should be punished. The chorus, however, also exudes a “everyman” mentality that seeks to present a cautionary tale rather than just what some may consider to be contentious rhetoric.

“You know what’s wrong with the world today? People done gone and put their Bible’s away. They’re living by the law of the jungle not the law of the land. The Good Book says it so I know it’s the truth; An eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth. You better watch where you go and remember where you been – that’s the way I see it I’m a simple man.”

In reality, Daniels attempted to capture the voice of disgruntled and unheard Americans in many of the lyrics from his latter works.

Many Americans who wish to restore America’s greatness feel the same way. Democrats in large part lack comprehension however.

But after he passed away, Daniels still captures the sentiments of what the America is today. In his blog post on his website, his son Charlie Daniels Jr. discovered that his father had written were still eerily relevant today, by starting out a quote the Bible verse that states 2 Thessalonians 3:10: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat,” from his  2015 blog post on Labor Day.

“We came up in a society where work ethic was honed and drilled into young folks’ heads from the time they could walk, it was well understood that, once you took your feet out from under your mother’s table, you were on your own, nobody was going to give you anything, that the only way you would survive would be by the sweat of your brow,” the well-known country legend said.

“I’ve picked cotton, cropped tobacco, pulled peanuts, worked in the log woods, and am no stranger to backbone jobs and I consider it a blessing knowing what truly hard physical work is all about,” Charlie continued by recalling his childhood memories of America.  “I wanted my son to know the same thing and in his early teens put him to work cleaning out horse stalls in the barn.”

The country singer continued by blaming the government for some of the current issues. In 2015, while Barack Obama was still in the White House, Daniels wrote, “It seems that under the current administration self-reliance, personal responsibility, work ethic and the other traits that made America into the nation it is, or was, (that’s a subjective issue) have been traded in for dependence on the government, and a “blame all your problems on some outside force, the world owes me a living.”

The Devil Went Down to Georgia singer bemoaned the state of American kids in another piece. Charlie Daniels wrote that the “mind-washed children whose thought processes have been warped by some revolutionary college professor who regards [Saul] Alinsky and Karl Marx as prophets indoctrinate young minds with the lies about America and white people being the cause of all the planet’s problems and need to be stripped of their place in the world.”

Regarding individuals who slander our police forces, Charlie Daniels was equally incensed. So, America, if you want peace and stability in your life, back our police, he said. “If you don’t want to live in a society run amok, if you don’t want to have an armed escort to walk to the grocery store.” And act now, while it is so important.

Charlie loves this country more than anything. Daniels had faith in hard-working Americans to uphold moral standards when he made his farewell post on July 3, 2020, while reflecting on our Independence Day.

This year, as we celebrate the 244th birthday of the greatest nation the world has ever known, we are beset with many problems, some of our making and some we have no control over,” Charlie said. “But, be that as it is, America is still the greatest and I want to express my personal feelings about our beloved country.” Those feelings were best expressed in his song called My Beautiful America.

Charlie Daniels won’t be there to witness what is occurring in America now that he has passed away. But one thing is certain: if Democrats are still in line after Joe Biden and his dictatorship, the music and lyrics that Charlie Daniels wrote assist express the views of many people who will decide the outcome.
