Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion
THIS ENTIRE POST WILL HAVE SPOILERS:
A day or two ago I asked here how to keep the game interesting, I had just done a loop where I visited the prisoner, solanum, and got to the eye in one loop. A few people here suggested I do a shipless run to the eye, and I was intrigued. It sounded challenging. Well I just did it after much trial and error. My method was this:
First I got my jet pack, then marked The Vessel on my HUD, then I flew to some geysers that would help me escape timber hearth’s gravity. Attlerock was directly above me, and that’s where I went. I refueled at Esker’s camp, then looked around for the quantum moon to appear in Timber’s orbit. I jet packed straight to the moon, then used the tower to get to the twins. I jet packed to the twins, refueled at Chert’s camp, then flew to ash twin to get the core. Right after that, I flew back to ember twin and refueled again, then got to the gravity cannon. I recalled the shuttle, then waited in the shuttle until bramble was directly above me, then I launched. Unfortunately this wasn’t very successful, the suns gravity was pulling me back after a short time, so I exited when I was still about 15K from bramble. I made the executive decision to exit the shuttle and attempt to fly directly to bramble. I accelerated up to 100mps then coasted, knowing I had time. So I didn’t waste fuel, I did not decelerate, instead focused on aiming directly for the entrance. This worked, and I gently flew directly to the anger nest, where on the way I was informed that my fuel level was critical. I got to the nest and in the middle of coasting past the fish, I got the alert that I had 3 minutes of oxygen to go. Right as the last angler was fading, I made a few bursts of acceleration towards the last seed, wherein the vessel lies about 1000m ahead. I am deathly low on fuel and oxygen so I’m deliberate about my accelerations. Right as I enter the vessel and am going through the hallway, I get the notice that I have 60 seconds of oxygen left, right as I run out of fuel. Thankfully I am seconds away from entering the main chamber where my oxygen was refilled. From there it was an easy ride to the eye.
