The trailer follows the rookie FBI agent, Lee Harker, who takes on the case of a serial killer who goes by "Longlegs." At a crime scene, the killer leaves behind references to the occult and Dante's Nine Circles of Hell. The rest of the trailer is light on plot and instead uses terrifying visuals and sound design to hype up the horror film.

Longlegs Is Already Heavily Hyped

Though this is the second Longlegs trailer after an initial teaser was released in early February 2024, the horror film is already heavily hyped ahead of its release date in July thanks to its creative marketing campaign and early rave reviews. Starting in January, the independent studio shared various mysterious and eerie teasers for the film without revealing its title, instead using a code made up of occult symbols to maintain intrigue. The innovative marketing campaign started generating significant buzz for Longlegs long before its release.

In addition, early reviews for Longlegs have called it one of the best horror movies of 2024, with many praising its "nightmarish" story and visuals. For instance, one reviewer called it a "contemporary Silence of the Lambs" and the "real deal" in horror. Many of the reviews also praise Cage's performance as the deeply disturbing serial killer. Furthermore, in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, producers Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum piled on the praise by calling Cage's performance "truly terrifying" and Longlegs "the most iconic horror Cage."
