The Toyota RAV4 is a terrific car that doesn't seem to fit into any one category. Is it a crossover? Wagon? SUV? All of the above? Here those of us who appreciate this fine automobile and want to learn more about it, share accessory sources, and show each other pics while bragging about our sweet, sweet RAVs and the adventures they take us on.

I typically buy cars around 8-10 years old and get rid of them 15-20 years old. At that point even if the engine and transmission are still good the entire body seems to start rusting at once, parts that have a life measured in time rather than miles such as rubber seals and hoses and electronic computers start to go bad, plastic parts get too brittle to work on without cracking.

If I were to replace my 09 RAV4 with another one at this point I'd probably look a 16 up, to avoid the 13-15 transmission issues and after making it a lot less nice for 13, they started making it nice again in other ways.

I love my 2009 Sport. 228,000 kms and still in great shape.

We just bought a 2021 XLE as a second vehicle. If we hadn’t wanted to get something newer with very low miles, I’d have looked for another 2009-2012.

The 3rd year+ Gen3 is my favourite RAV.

Low mileage V6 Sport appearance package.

Daily drive a 99 awd, put 31,000 miles on it the last 3 years and it just hit 206,000 miles.

It comes down to price. I would buy a running 1995 RAV4 with 890k miles for $200, without hesitation.
