  • Stephen Sanchez Releases New Song “Baby Blue Bathing Suit” from New Documentary “The Beach Boys” Soundtrack

  • Nashville-based singer-songwriter Stephen Sanchez released a new song “Baby Blue Bathing Suit” on May 16, 2024.

The song will appear on American rock band The Beach Boys' documentary “The Beach Boys” soundtrack.
The documentary features never-before-seen footage and all-new interviews with The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston, plus other luminaries in the music business, including Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was.
The film was directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, and is scheduled to be released on May 24, 2024 via Disney+.
The song is inspired by The Beach Boys. It was written by Amy Allen, Stephen Sanchez, and Daniel Nigro who also produced it.
The accompanying music video was directed by James Chappell, who filmed at the beach in Sydney, Australia.

“I was floored when The Beach Boys' team reached out to me about being featured on the film's soundtrack,” Stephen Sanchez said in a statement. “It's truly an honor to be a part of this project and I have so much respect for the band and their musical legacy.”

The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson said, “Stephen Sanchez has the chops... great vocal. I dig it. It's like a Beach Boys vibe song.”
  • Producer Daniel Nigro said of the song, “The thing about the song was more so creating like a feeling of nostalgia, but not being in the moment of it so it's like a reflection of a time.”

Co-writer Amy Allen added, “We did try to make it in the style of the Beach Boys, and it does have a feeling of nostalgia and just feeling good. Especially because they're the Beach Boys, summer is synonymous with everything they do.”
  • Stephen Sanchez said, “I think in the same way where Brian Wilson was influenced by all the bands at the time. I think there are some bands from this time that really inspired me, but a lot of bands from that time were all about their harmonies, and the melodies, and construction of that inner working together in a relationship. In the same way that they approached it we try to approach that in the studio.”
