BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU men's basketball junior Jaylen Dorsey has been named as a recipient of the Conference USA Winter Spirit of Service Award, as announced by the league on Tuesday. The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport.

Dorsey has served as a leader in the athletic department's community service efforts in Bowling Green since arriving at WKU in 2021. Dorsey has volunteered on the Sports Reach Basketball Service trip, Lee Pointe Curbside, Parker-Bennett Curbside, the Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game, High-Five Friday, Bungalows at a Bowling Green elderly home, Bat out Breast Cancer, Election Day Reading, Angel Tree Christmas Shopping, the Boys and Girls Club, Itty Bitty Purples Preschool and the BGWC Humane Society. 

A native of Berea, Kentucky, Dorsey is pursuing a career goal of becoming a software engineer following his basketball career. Dorsey will enter his senior season with WKU in 2024-25 after helping the Hilltopper Basketball program to its first-ever CUSA Tournament Championship and first conference title since 2013 in 2023-24.

The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with Tuesday's honorees representing track and field and basketball. Recipients are nominated by their institutions.
