Fountain Hills Friends of the Library (FHFL) is seeking applicants for its Opportunities Scholarship for students looking to pursue higher education in college alternatives like technical or trade school.

Hoping to cast a wider net to students seeking higher education, the Opportunities Scholarship is open to students who reside in Fountain Hills, Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation or Rio Verde.

Non-Fountain Hills High School students may also apply, so long as they live in the aforementioned Fountain Hills extended community.

The scholarship will be awarded in the spring of 2024.

The scholarship is $3,000/year, renewable for three additional years for a total of $12,000 so long as the applicant adheres to the scholarship requirements listed online at fhfl.org.

The scholarship is also open to students who have graduated high school in the last 12 months and have opted to take a “gap year” before pursuing a further education.

While the Opportunities Scholarship is geared toward students looking to attend technical or trade schools, students planning to attend a four-year bachelor’s degree are not exempt from applying.

The Opportunity Scholarship qualifications are listed online at fhfl.org.

To apply, students must complete the application found on fhfl.org and send it by email to libraryfriends@fhfl.org.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
