King Combs, the son of rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, defended his father amid his numerous sexual assault lawsuits and slammed his critics including longtime rival 50 Cent—who is among the most vocal critics of Combs throughout his legal troubles—in a new track titled “Pick A Side.”
Key Facts
Podcast host and livestreamer DJ Akademiks first streamed “Pick A Side” on Sunday night, after which King Combs uploaded the song to his YouTube channel early Monday morning.
King Combs, whose real name is Christian Combs, defended his father in the rap, stating he dares anyone to say “No Diddy”—a phrase that was often used by frequent Combs critic 50 Cent amid his legal troubles.
He addressed the March raid on Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles by federal agents, rapping: “Police raid the crib like they think we selling crack, but we out here selling tracks / Multimillion dollar plaques.”
King Combs rapped that “pops been hated on by many men” and calls out 50 Cent by name, with whom his father has had a decades-long beef that intensified after Combs was sued numerous times for sexual assault.
Chief Critics
50 Cent responded on Instagram, writing: “I feel so threatened by the things Christian is saying on his record. I’m afraid for my life, please don’t hurt me guys. I never mentioned or posted anything about puffy’s kids 😳 because KEEFE D said he killed 2Pac 🤷🏽♂️ LOL.” 50 Cent has previously suggested on multiple occasions that Combs was involved with the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur (which Combs called “nonsense”). In another post Monday morning, 50 Cent called King Combs “dumb” for his lyrics about the raids on Combs’ homes, writing: “Now why would you say some sh*t like this 🤦when you know the FEDS are investigating.”
Key Background
Sean Combs has faced numerous lawsuits accusing him of a range of crimes including sexual assault, rape and physical abuse since November, when the first and most high-profile lawsuit against the rapper was filed by singer Casandra Ventura, known professionally as Cassie. Ventura alleged Combs raped her in 2018 and subjected her to physical abuse for years while the two were in a relationship—all of which Combs denied—and the parties settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount later that month. After facing a string of sexual assault lawsuits in late 2023, another music industry figure—producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones—sued Combs in February, alleging sexual assault and accusing Combs of forcing him to engage in sex acts. Combs has consistently denied all allegations made against him in these lawsuits. Federal agents raided Combs’ homes in March, which multiple news outlets reported were part of a federal sex trafficking investigation. Last week, Combs asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed against himself and two co-defendants, which alleged they had raped the plaintiff while she was 17, calling it a “false and hideous claim” that was filed too late. King Combs was accused of sexual assault by plaintiff Grace O'Marcaigh in a lawsuit filed last month, which his lawyer Aaron Dyer called “manufactured lies.”
Tangent
50 Cent has been one of the loudest and most frequent critics of Combs since his sexual assault lawsuits began, though it’s just the latest chapter in their decades-long beef. After the March raids on Combs’ homes, 50 Cent tweeted: “Now it’s not Diddy do it, it’s Diddy done 🤷🏽♂️they don’t come like that unless they got a case.” 50 Cent has since repeatedly mocked Combs on Instagram, often with memes, and he has stated his production company G-Unit Film & Television is working on a documentary about Combs’ sexual assault allegations. Their beef dates back to at least 2006, when 50 Cent alleged in a diss track that Combs knew who shot and killed the Notorious B.I.G., who was signed to Combs’ Bad Boy Records. 50 Cent has also made numerous comments speculating about Combs’ sexuality, and the two have sparred over their competing vodka brands.
