ALBUM REVIEW: Born to Be - ITZY

You probably just died laughing in this moment, if you have ever walked in and heard my usual opinion on anything K-pop related. Regardless of how I feel, it has certainly taken the world by storm. If I could handle Blackpink, I can probably take this.

Itzy in past singles has at least seemed...different. A bit more EDM, a little closer to modernized versus some other Kpop groups I have heard. This does not mean I'm going to love it, I am just giving them a little credit.

Born to Be does not have a lot going for it. The breakdowns are annoying, they took the most noisy aspects of dubstep for incorporation, and the lyrics do not grab me.

Untouchable is not quite as grating as Born to Be, but still feels like someone else's best filler track.

Vampire has a unique rhythm to it. I'm not sure I enjoy the drop in the chorus, but I like the melody more. It can definitely get caught in your head.

Dynamite just took us back to the bad parts of dubstep. I think I would rather hear some fingernails on a chalkboard than play this song again.

While Crown on My Head does not warrant me returning to it, it is probably the best produced song I had heard up to this point. It has enough of the flare without ruining the vocals with the most random dubstep noises.

Blossom sounds like some of the more Pop R&B on radio now. It is very good for smooth vibes. Probably the most pleasant song on the album.

Run Away leans a little more trap and talk-singing. It then shifts into pop/rock? Song is trying to be too many things at the same time. It would be better if it was two different songs.

Mine has a great beat and melody. It has just enough drama to keep it interesting.

Yet, But reminds of what parts of Kpop normally annoy me. It is so dolled up it will give you a sugar rush.

Escalator is memorable for all the wrong reasons. Terrible choice for a closer. It ruins any intention I may have had of flipping it back over and playing it again.

LYRICS: 6/10 - I don't know about you guys, but I do not know Korean. There's some English parts that sound okay. Nothing felt immensely clunky. I do think some of the looking your best lines were a bit out of place at times.

MUSIC: 3/10 - Most of it is the most grating parts of Dubstep I request we keep buried.

OVERALL: 4/10 - Feels very average and forgettable in the long line of pop music.
