Manchester United Stars Onana and Garnacho Show Support for Faisal Halim After Acid Attack

MANCHESTER: Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana and midfielder Alejandro Garnacho have joined in sending well-wishes to Selangor FC’s Faisal Halim after he was attacked with acid recently.

In a heartfelt 26-second video shared on various platforms, the Manchester United players expressed their support for Faisal Halim, who sustained severe burns in the attack on May 5.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Onana and Garnacho emphasized the importance of staying strong and fighting through tough times.

“Hey Faisal, we want you to know that we are with you during this difficult time. Keep your spirits high and know that we are rooting for your recovery. Alejandro and I send you our best wishes, stay strong, we stand by you,” said Onana.

The goalkeeper made it clear that his message represented the sentiments of the entire team.

“We are in this together, keep pushing forward, my brother,” added Onana.

Garnacho, seated beside Onana in the video, encouraged Faisal to remain resilient amidst the challenges.

Faisal, also known as Mickey, fell victim to the acid attack at a mall in Damansara, with the motive behind the incident still unknown.

The disturbing images of Faisal’s injuries circulated widely on social media, leaving many netizens in disbelief that such a cruel act could be inflicted on a national football player.

Just days prior, Faisal’s fellow Harimau Malaya teammate Akhyar Rashid was attacked and robbed in Kuala Terengganu, sustaining injuries on May 2.

Furthermore, former national captain Safiq Rahim narrowly escaped harm when two individuals shattered his car’s rear windshield in Johor Baru on the night of May 7.

The 36-year-old, who competes for Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), recounted the incident on social media by sharing a police report.

Authorities have apprehended two suspects linked to the acid attack on Faisal, who recently underwent a third surgical procedure on Thursday afternoon.
