The UNLV basketball team locked in its roster for the 2024-25 season on Thursday, as Florida transfer Julian Rishwain committed to the Scarlet and Gray.
Rishwain is a 6-foot-5 guard with one year of eligibility remaining. He made the announcement via Twitter.
UNLV now has 13 players on scholarship for next season, putting a bow on the roster. Rishwain will be one of seven newcomers and one of four transfer-portal additions.
Rishwain was initially a 3-star recruit in the Class of 2019 and pledged to Boston College out of high school. After one year at BC, he transferred to San Francisco, where he spent the next three years as a key role player for the Dons.
In three seasons at San Francisco, Rishwain started 11 of 77 games and averaged 6.9 points in 18.6 minutes per contest. He made 36.3% from 3-point range during that span.
After the 2022-23 season, Rishwain followed Todd Golden to Florida as a grad transfer. Golden had previously been the head coach at San Francisco from 2019 to 2022.
Rishwain was sidelined by a knee injury and only appeared in eight games for Florida last year. The NCAA granted him an extra year of eligibility, leading him to UNLV, where playing time at the wing positions is very much available.
UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger is hopeful Rishwain can serve as a 3-point marksman for the Scarlet and Gray.
“He’s another shooter,” Kruger said. “A proven shooter with experience. We’re very happy about him being the completion of our roster.”
