A 14-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Portland on Tuesday night.
It happened on Main Street in the area of Waverly Avenue at about 5:30 p.m.
Police said they were called to the area for a reported pedestrian crash. They later learned that a teen who was crossing the road was hit by a car.
The boy was taken to Connecticut Children's Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. No one else was hurt.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
