A woman identified as Maurine has shared her monthly budget and revealed that her husband takes care of 90% of the KSh 64,000 needed to cover it every month.

Maurine's rent costs KSh 17000

The monthly budget breakdown, shared on TikTok, showed that the bulk of the family's money goes to pay KSh 17,000 rent and to get groceries, which amounts to KSh 10,000.

The housegirl walks away with KSh 6000, while electricity costs KSh 3500, and water costs KSh 2000 per month.

Breakfast for the whole month takes up KSh 6200, while lunch for the entire month costs KSh 4650 and supper's cost for the month is KSh 1,200.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke in an interview, Maurine said:

"It's a man's job to provide essential needs for his family; woman is helper and should not only chip in when necessary. Men and women ain't equal that's not how God created us. Whne you do 50-50 with your man and still do you natural dutie sof a woman like childbearing he will become redundant and lose his role as head of the family."
"In a household a woman can pay the housegirl, buys foodstuffs. Items such as food, rent and schoolfees housld be handled by the man," she added.

When someone had a problem with the amount that she pays her housegirl, Maurine said:

"It depends on the size of your household, hun...my nanny only takes care of me and our daughter; hubby works away. That KSh 6000 is very fair," she said.

Muslims pay for all expenses

DavidT wanted to know if the couple owns a posho mill in their house because they pay KSh 3500.

"That amount is small compared to my KSh 6000, which you get when there is a washing machine, TV that is on for 15 hours, fridge, kettle jug, iron box and water dispenser. You find almost everything in the house consumes electricity," said TikToker identified as Foi.

Ashu Bakers revealed that Muslims take care of all expenses for their wives, and Maurine said:

"You should come marry my sisters they are suffering in the hands of your Christian brothers who want to do 50/50 sharing of expenses."

Mwandala thought that the budget were not conclusive, and he said:

Nairobi man breaks down KSh 10,000 salary

In another story, a man who lives in the capital of Kenya showed how he spends his monthly salary on various necessities

The man, Olas, said he earns KSh 10,000 monthly salary and referred to himself as broke.

Transportation fares to and from work take up a large chunk of his salary, as he spends KSh 2,200 on them.
