Rowing Places Fifth at National Invitational Rowing Championship

WORCESTER - The Smith College rowing team hit the water on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, finishing in fifth place in the Women's Team Points Trophy. 

Smith's 3rd Varsity 8+ raced first and placed 3rd in their heat to qualify for the Grand Final. In the afternoon the 3V raced put together a strong grand final race and finish on the podium in 3rd place behind Tufts and Hamilton. 

Smith's 2nd Varsity 8+ finished 3rd in their heat and qualified for the Petite Final. In the afternoon petite final Smith finished 3rd behind Bates and Coast Guard and ahead of Ithaca College.

The 1st Varsity 8+, seeded 11th going in to the weekend racing, won their morning heat to qualify for the afternoon Grand Final. The crew finished 5th overall in the Grand Final. 

Smith's 4th Varsity 8+ raced in Grand Final and closed a significant margin on Tufts from the previous weekend and placed second overall. 

Up Next
Smith will complete their 2024 Season at the NCAA Championships in Ohio, beginning May 31. The Pioneers will be among a field of eight teams, to be announced officially Tuesday afternoon on the NCAA Division III Rowing selection show on NCAA.com.
