Baseball Closes Regular Season Winning Four of Five

Baseball enters postseason play winning four of their last five contests, including back to back wins this past weekend.

After taking down Harrison (6-3) on Senior Day and Anderson (7-5), they fell to Turpin (4-5) heading into their final two regular season games this weekend.

On Friday, the Bombers met Badin over at Great American Ballpark as part of the Reds Futures High School Showcase. Tied 1-1 heading into the 6th inning, Jack O'Malley notched an RBI single to score Tommy Jewell and take a 2-1 lead. Jack Ryan finished out a dominant start in the 7th to secure the victory. Ryan pitched a gem Friday night, throwing a complete game no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and 3 walks.

A quick turnaround Saturday, St. Xavier met Milford over at the Reds Youth Academy for their regular season finale. The Bombers went into the bottom of the 7th inning down 6-3. Jewell kicked off the scoring on a passed ball and a Matthew Hoerst single scored two runs to tie the game at 6-6. Sam Thorsen walked off the game to score Adam Zinser and give the Bombers a come from behind victory.

The Bombers open postseason play with a bit of momentum as they welcome Winton Woods to campus in Sectional Tournament action at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14th. Tickets can be purchased at www.ohsaa.org/tickets.
