Good to mention. He gets so much negative stuff on this thread. But no one else was playing bass on the 1st three albums.

Jimi played on quite a few Electric Ladyland tracks, but Noel was definitely a great bassist

And Jack Cassidy on “Voodoo Chile”

I guess I don't engage here enough, but I cannot understand why Noel would get shade from Hendrix fans. Great bassist and super chill dude.

I never heard Noel was a d**k. What I heard is he was bored with all the overdubbing Hendrix did in the studio. He just wanted to get the records done. I also heard an interview where when they were touring in the U.S., he'd get paid $200 a week when they were making thousands for a gig.

Because he hated that Jimi wanted to record music with other artiists and take breaks from touring. He also didn't want the band to expand and quit because Jimi didn't consult him about it.

Noel was a dick in my book.

I think Jimi played if 6 was 9

Well I meant no other bass players. But yes Jimi played some bass on Axis and Ladyland.

Noel was the one who spoke up about the way he and Mitch were paid so poorly, and Jimi's manager Mike Jeffrey didn't like that. He considered the other two employees. But when Noel quit, Jimi was pretty upset. Noel was really a guitarist who had shown up looking for a job with the (New?) Animals, only to find an American guitarist who needed a band. Jimi partly chose Noel based on his snappy wardrobe, which is pretty funny. Word is that Jimi and Mitch busted a gut laughing at Noel's nasal vocals on the two songs he wrote with the Experience.

she’s so fineeeeeee🎶🎶

She’s so very very fine

It's a cool song.

But like the other post says dude was super nasally.

In the early 70s Noel was in a band named Road. Great record if you can get your hands on it.

Great bass playing on live version of Red House at San Diego Sports Arena (originally on Hendrix In The West album)

Quote from Stanley Clarke -

Noel Redding wasn't the worlds greatest bass player but with Hendrix he was perfect

I wish that Noel came to my area to play. Maybe he did and I didn’t know about it. It would have been really very cool to have scene him.

SHE WALKS WITH A BELL CLOCK ROUND HER NECK SOO THE HIPPIES THINK SHES IN WITH TIIIME

That’s some of the worst lyric ever.

Lmao yeah not the greatest lyricist but I still love the song though 🤷🏽‍♂️

Didn’t say the song was horrible, just some of the lyrics. I tried to get into Fat Mattress but honestly most of the lyrics were so bad that I just couldn’t do it. Love the man though, as bf his contribution to music.

He had some amazing crushing bass lines!! RIP!!

For anyone interested, the MoPop museum in Seattle has Noel’s bass on display (along with Jimi’s Woodstock guitar and other artifacts). Cool to see.

Almost all the guys I knew who bashed Noel didn't know dukey about the JHE individually or collectively.

Missed this yesterday. I've posted this before but seems worth it for those who've missed it.

A best insight you will get about Noels life after his short solo career, and generally a better feel about him as a person. As he lived most of his life in a small community in the sticks of West Ireland.. as written by one who knew him, and his wife well.
