Berlin-based sales agency M-Appeal has closed several distribution deals for two acclaimed films, "Sex" and "Evil Does Not Exist," following their successful premieres and award wins at the Berlinale and Venice film festivals. The deals span multiple territories, including the UK, Ireland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Portugal, Switzerland, and Hungary.

Directed by Dag Johan Haugerud, "Sex" premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale, where it garnered three prestigious awards: the Europa Cinemas Label for Best European Film, the CICAE Art Cinema Award, and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. The film's new buyers include Modern Films for the UK and Ireland, Pilot Film for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Films4You for Portugal, Xenix Film for Switzerland, MCF Megacom for ex-Yugoslavian territories, and Vertigo Média for Hungary.

These deals follow previous distribution agreements secured by M-Appeal for "Sex" in North America (Strand Releasing), France (Pyramide Distribution), South Korea (JinJin Pictures), Greece (Cinobo), Germany (Alamode), Austria (Polyfilm), Benelux (September Film Distribution), Spain (Filmin), and Italy (Wanted Cinema). Cyril Thurston, general manager of Xenix, praised the film, stating,"'Sex' is a joy to watch. It is smart, funny and will definitely spark a lot of conversations. It is simply original. "show

Meanwhile, Oscar-winner Ryusuke Hamaguchi's "Evil Does Not Exist" has secured new distribution deals in Hungary (CinefilCo Ltd.) and Indonesia (Falcon), adding to its previous sales in Japan, Korea (GreenNarae), the US (Sideshow and Janus Films), and France (Diaphana). The film, which won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival, has achieved impressive box office success in France and the US.

In France, "Evil Does Not Exist" has surpassed 180,000 admissions, making it Hamaguchi's largest opening in the country, overtaking "Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy" and approaching the admissions for his Oscar-winning film "Drive My Car." The film has also performed strongly in the US, where its opening weekend per-theater average more than doubled that of "Drive My Car."

M-Appeal's success with these two critically acclaimed films demonstrates the company's ability to capitalize on the buzz generated by festival premieres and award wins. The Berlin-based sales agency continues to expand the global reach of international cinema, bringing compelling stories to audiences worldwide. M-Appeal will be attending the upcoming Cannes Film Market with its latest acquisition, "Baby" by Marcelo Caetano, which is set to screen in the prestigious Critics' Week section of the festival.
