Prosecutors have submitted their sentencing recommendation for Adam Montgomery, asking that he be sentenced to 56 years to life in prison for murdering his 5-year-old daughter, Harmony.
Montgomery was found guilty in February of second-degree murder for killing his daughter in December 2019. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday.
In their sentencing memo, prosecutors asked for a sentence of 45 years to life in prison for the second-degree murder conviction, along with additional time for Montgomery's convictions on second-degree assault, falsifying physical evidence, witness tampering and abuse of a corpse.

The memo describes in detail the events that led to Harmony's death, including testimony from Adam Montgomery's estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, who said he hit Harmony several times after she had a bathroom accident in their car.
"The defendant robbed Harmony and her family of the person she was going to become," prosecutors wrote in the memo. "He killed all potential she held and eradicated the potential good she could do for her family and the community. Harmony left behind young siblings, one who was 1 year old when he last saw her, and another born later who will never know her."
The deadline for the prosecution and defense to submit sentencing memos is Tuesday. The defense sentencing memo was not yet available.

"I anticipate a lot of (the hearing) will be the victim's family testifying about the impact this has had on them and just the years that they suffered, not knowing what had happened to Harmony," said legal analyst Patricia LaFrance, of Black, LaFrance & Bollinger.
Adam Montgomery is already serving a sentence of up to 60 years in prison after he was convicted of weapons charges unrelated to the disappearance and death of his daughter. During his sentencing in that trial, he denied killing Harmony and said he looked forward to refuting "those offensive claims."
Aside from one day of jury selection, Adam Montgomery did not attend the second-degree murder trial. He also requested that he not be required to attend Thursday's sentencing, but a judge has ordered that he be present.
Adam Montgomery's sentencing will air live on WMUR-Channel 9, wmur.com and the Very Local app. Sentencing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Thursday and will likely take a couple of hours.
