  • Mabel Releases New Song “Look At My Body Pt II” featuring Shygirl

  • British singer-songwriter Mabel released a new song “Look At My Body Pt II” on May 10, 2024, following the release of “Vitamins” last month.

This time, she teamed up with London-based DJ and rapper Shygirl on the track.
The song is an unrepentant ode to owning your sexuality and womanhood.
It was written by Blaine Muise, Carl Falk, Ludvig Söderberg, Mabel Mcvey, Marlon Roudette, and Savan Kotecha.
Produced by A Strut, Carl Falk, and Savan Kotecha. The accompanying music video was directed by David Wilson.
In the clip, Mabel and Shygirl unpick the male gaze, flipping well-known cultural moments dating back to Eve and the forbidden fruit.

Mabel said of the song, “This record is about questioning the male gaze and the power of the divine feminine. I've felt judged by my appearance a lot and I've let comments get the better of me at times. Now I'm at a stage in my life though where I'm celebrating the body I'm in without letting it define me. I wanted to let anyone that's ever underestimated me or judged the book by its cover know that I'm ok with them doing that now because I know who I am.”
  • She continued, “Collaborating with Shygirl is something I've wanted to do for a really long time as I'm a big fan of her music and everything fell into place with this record. She totally understood everything I wanted it to be and she's made the song so special. She's a superstar.”

Shygirl added, “Had such a cute time working with Mabel on this one - an easy and natural fit, just love hanging out with her. A song for those who love watching xx”

  • Mabel shared on social media, “I've sat on this one for a minute but I knew once we made it that it had to come at this time. This is me taking control, being unapologetic and pointing out all the hypocrisies and double standards that women have to live up to; not just in music but in our every day lives.”
