A victim of Brazil floods cried tears of joy after he reunited with his pet dogs amid the disaster in a video that has surfaced online. The short clip was posted on social media by Good News Movement and has made viewers rather emotional.
Heavy rainfall that resulted in extensive flooding in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul has submerged hundreds of towns. Over 85 people died due to the floods and about 1,50,000 have been displaced from their homes, officials said, BBC reports.
Amid a rescue operation during the floods, the man as seen in the aforementioned video, broke down after reuniting with his furry friends. The rescue officers were also touched after witnessing such an emotional scenario and consoled the man.
“Flood victim is overcome with emotion when he is reunited with his dogs. The rescuers that help save the animals were also moved by the scene and consoled the grateful man,” reads the caption of the post.

In the comments section, several social media users shared the flood victim’s story. “Apparently he was already safe but kept insisting he had to go back and save his children. He also insisted he had to go with the rescuers because he didn't tell them the kids were dogs. Also, he is a sick man with a colostomy bag. He is my personal hero from now on,” a comment reads.
The dogs were equally relieved after meeting their hooman. “All 4 of his dogs cuddling and being glued to his side had me sobbing,” a user said.
Pet parents also commented on the video as they could understand the man’s sentiments. “Sometimes people find more love from their pets than the people around them. I feel this man’s pain. I have two dogs who are my children and I wouldn’t hesitate at all to risk my life for them.”
“I felt this in my soul. I know my dogs mean the world to me. I can’t imagine the loss he’s feeling but to have them back cushions some of it.”
The floods, caused by unusually heavy rains in Brazil, have destroyed highways and bridges in Rio Grande do Sul, which borders Uruguay and Argentina.
