Only three teams in 21st century finished league season unbeaten – Xabi Alonso's Bayer one of them

They did it! Bayer Leverkusen have completed their Bundesliga campaign without a single defeat, securing 28 wins and six draws along the way to claim their first-ever league crown.

Xabi Alonso's men are now joining the elite club of Europe's top 5 teams to have gone unbeaten throughout an entire league campaign in the 21st century.

Previously, it was Juventus in 2011/12 and Arsenal in 2003/04. The Antonio Conte-led side secured the Scudetto with 23 wins and 15 draws, while Arsene Wenger's team notched up 26 wins and 12 draws.

The former Real Madrid man could further etch his name in history by remaining undefeated in all competitions, with two more finals yet to be played before the end of the season.
