Mafia-gruesome kinda- becoming what your father hated

Basically it’s a mafia book. There’s this old man who’s in the hospital abt to die and he’s really wealthy and has a lot of grandchildren but they all care abt the inheritance rather than him. Then this guy comes along (we don’t know how they are related in the beginning) but knows the old man and basically tells the old man’s story. A main part is that when the old man was in the womb his father (who was in debt to a mafia) was confronted and basically he comes home one night to his pregnant wife and finds out they kidnapped their 8 year old boy (old man’s brother) and finds him with h th e mafia and asks for him back but ofc they refuse and ask for the money now or he’s boy stays which he didn’t want and went to extreme lengths which ended in him shooting his own son just so he doesn’t become like the mafia boss. He never tells his youngest son (the older man) and eventually as he grows up he gets involved with the mafia and figures out abt his dead older brother from a lady who was taking care of him but she was dying.

Honestly can’t remember much but hopefully that’s enough 😭
