Portugal’s president expressed concern today about the evolution of the war in Ukraine. When he was asked if he was disappointed that Volodymyr Zelenskyy had cancelled his visit to Portugal, he replied: “No, I am worried”, adding that “we cannot talk about a cancellation, because the visit had never been confirmed”. But “what concerns me is making sure that the evolution of the war in Ukraine is a positive one and not a negative one, and that’s what’s most important”. Indeed, today has been ‘all about Ukraine’ in one form or other, with warnings from the Naval Chief of Staff of escalating conflict and curious messaging from Russia’s own foreign affairs department.
