Several girls high school softball teams earned their way into next week's West Virginia State Tournament in South Charleston.

In Class AAA, University, Greenbrier East and Cabell Midland captured their respective regionals.

University topped Morgantown, 5-1, to sweep the best-of-three series.

East won for a second straight evening over Greenbrier East, 10-7.

Cabell Midland also won its series over Hurricane by winning game two of the series, 8-4.

In Class AA, Herbert Hoover is returning to the State Tournament following its second consecutive victory over Lincoln, 8-0.

Bluefield upended Independence in two straight games, including a 7-0 win Tuesday, to earn a trip to the Kanawha Valley.

In Class A, Petersburg defeated Doddridge, 11-0, for a two-game sweep.

Musselman and Washington are still battling for the other spot in Class AAA.

In Class AA, Keyser downed Weir, 6-4, to even that series.

Buffalo was a winner of Ravenswood, 5-3, to even that Class A matchup at 1-1.

The double-elimination State Tournament at Little Creek Park will get going at May 22-23.
