The Manly Sea Eagles have bolstered their outside back depth with the immediate signing of former Titan Aaron Schoupp on a two-year deal.

Schoupp, who lined up for the Titans against the Knights in Magic Round over the weekend, was granted an immediate release from the Gold Coast in order to link up with the Sea Eagles.

Manly coach Anthony Seibold said Schoupp will be a “good addition to the playing group”.

“Aaron adds depth to our squad as we have got a few injuries to our outside backs at the moment,‘’ Seibold said in a club-issued statement.

Schoupp had only appeared in two games for the Titans this season and could be in line for more first grade opportunities with Manly.

The Sea Eagles have fullback Tom Trbojevic and winger Jason Saab out with injuries, which has forced a recent reshuffle in the backline with centre Tolutau Koula wearing the No. 1 jersey in Trbojevic’s absence.

Schoupp has played in 52 NRL games for the Bulldogs and Titans after debuting for Canterbury in 2021.

GUN BACK ROWER INKS DRAGONS EXTENSION

The St George Illawarra Dragons have made a major statement of intent as star back-rower Jaydn Su’A inked a two-year extension.

Su’A’s new deal will keep him with the Red V until the end of the 2026 season.

The retention of Su’A represents a glowing endorsement of new Dragons coach Shane Flanagan as the club continues to impress on the field under the premiership-winning coach.

And Flanagan, who hailed Su’A as “a vital part” of the Dragons’ pack, was ecstatic to keep him at the club for two more years.

“Jaydn’s performances this year have shown how important he is to this club and how determined he is to perform for the Dragons,” Flanagan said.

“He is just coming in to his best football and we see him as a vital part of our forward pack over the coming years.”

Prior to signing his new extension, Su’A was set to be a free agent at the end of the season and would no doubt have had plenty of clubs fighting for his services.

But the 26-year-old’s decision to pledge his future to the Dragons ensures Flanagan will have one less headache to worry about when it comes to recruitment.

Su’A has 40 appearances for the Dragons to his name and now with a fresh two-year extension signed and sealed, that figure will no doubt climb even further.

WARRIORS LOCK UP STAR PLAYMAKER ON MULTI-YEAR EXTENSION

The Warriors have received a massive boost with star hooker Wayde Egan agreeing to a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of 2027.

“Hooker Wayde Egan will remain at the One New Zealand Warriors until the end of the 2027 NRL season after signing a two-year contract extension,” the club said in a statement.

The club has moved early to secure the 27-year-old who had been extended to the end of 2025 only last July.

The Lithgow-born Egan was a standout in 2023, earning a nomination as one of the three finalists for the Dally M hooker of the year award alongside Apisai Koroisau (Wests Tigers) and Harry Grant (Melbourne).

He started this season in similar vein with a series of performances which saw him singled out as a contender for this year’s New South Wales State of Origin side.

“Wayde has shown his class consistently as one of the best hookers in the game,” Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden said.

“He is thriving in the environment we have here and he’s passionate about the club. We’re thrilled to have him with us long term.”

Egan is in line to play his 100th match for the Warriors this season, boosting his tally to 88 in Sunday’s clash against the Sydney Roosters.

“Wayde is vital to us as an elite hooker – one of the smartest around – and as a leader on and off the field,” Warriors head coach Andrew Webster said.

“He loves it here and we love having him. We’ve got a style of play we put around him so he can show his talent. He’s exceptional and a player I’d like to see at our club for many years to come.”

Egan, who now has a total of 117 NRL appearances, joined the One New Zealand Warriors for the 2020 season after 29 appearances for the Penrith Panthers in 2018 and 2019.

His first 50 games for the Warriors were all played in Australia while the team was based there during the Covid pandemic. His first experience playing at Go Media Stadium was the 2022 clash against the Wests Tigers.

As well as showcasing his deft skills around the ruck, Egan is a defensive workhorse in the middle of the field averaging more than 40 tackles a game so far this season including 50 against both the Titans and the Knights in rounds eight and nine while he made 58 in the golden point draw with Manly Warringah.
