Kamala Harris was forced to apologize to the audience after she dropped an F-bomb during a live-streamed event.

The Vice President was attending the annual Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Legislative Leadership Summit on Monday when she was caught up in the blunder.

Harris had been discussing how minorities should advocate for themselves, arguing people are sometimes forced to create opportunities to advance without the support of others.

She said: "We have to know that sometimes people will open the door for you and leave it open.

"Sometimes they won’t, and then you need to kick that f***ing door down."

After realizing what she had said, Harris quickly added: "Excuse my language," while the audience laughed.

However, fellow panelist and comedian Jimmy O. Yang appeared impressed by her use of the F-bomb, commenting: "We gotta make t-shirts with that saying."

Harris, the first female, first African-American and first Asian American to serve as vice president of the US, had been discussing her personal experience rising through the political ranks.

She said: "Here’s the thing about breaking down barriers. It does not mean that you start on one side of the barrier and end up on another.

"There’s breaking involved. And when you break things you get cut and you may bleed. And it is worth it every time.”

The event was being streamed as part of the White House celebrations of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

The Biden campaign has been battling against the polls to win over the support of minorities as the next election looms nearer.

Last week, the campaign rolled out a $14 million ad blitz to appeal to voters showing signs of uncertainty when it comes to backing the incumbent president.
