Coronation Street's DS Swain star declares love for 'spoilt' co-star as another begs 'please'

Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has shared her love for her co-star as she helped her celebrate her birthday. The actress, who plays DS Swain in the ITV soap, is one of Abi Webster star Sally Carman-Duttine's closest friends.

And alongside fellow actress Erin Shanagher, the trio celebrate Sally's birthday. Taking to Instagram, the soap star share a number of snaps from her celebrations, that also included her co-star husband Joe Duttine, who plays Tim Metcalfe in the long-running show.

Sally, Vicky and Erin appeared to head out for a bit of birthday cake and catch-up with the group posing for beaming snaps surrounded by celebratory balloons. And there was no mistaking it was Sally's birthday with the actress donning a tiara and badge for the occasion - as she should!

Sally and her pals also posed outside the venue with the balloons blowing in the wind and trying to ruin their shot, much to their amusement. "Spoilt rotten #birthdaylove #bestfriends #lovelyhusband," she captioned her social media post.

And it didn't take long for the comments and birthday wishes to come flooding, particularly from her Corrie co-stars, in with Vicky starting by saying: "Happy Birthday. We love you so much." Glenda Shuttleworth star Jodie Prenger replied: "Have a stunner, ya stunner." Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow, gushed: "GORGEOUS."

Beth Sutherland actress Lisa George commented: "Hope you had a wonderful day you beautiful girl x." Samia Longchambon, who plays Weatherfield's Maria Connor, posted: "Happy birthday gorgeous girl!" Todd Grimshaw actor Gareth Pierce shared: "Rock it, birthday girl!"

Meanwhile, Tina Barlow, famed for playing Sarah Barlow in Corrie, typed: "Happy birthday to you!!!! Hope you had the best time ever still can’t get over your stunning outfit on your trip to London. Please start doing #OOTD content please? Love from your number one fan O’Brien." While former soap star Brooke Vincent shared love heart eyes emoji and added: "You look mint."

It comes after Sally celebrated earlier this year when it was revealed Vicky had been made a permanent member of the show's cast. She was revealed to now be a regular in the ITV soap after joining in 2021 as DS Lisa Swain.

The actress originally only signed up for eight episodes as the detective sergeant was first seen in 2021 when she led the police investigation into the assaults on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin which led to the latter's death. In more recent months, Corrie viewers have seen Swain face backlash from Daisy Midgeley after the police didn't stop her stalker Justin Rutherford before he launched a horrific acid attack on her wedding day and was also seen leading the hunt for serial killer Stephen Reid back in October.

Celebrating her new long-running role on Corrie, Vicky took to X, formerly known as Twitter, with a promo shot of herself as Swain on the cobbles, posing in front of the Rovers Return and said: "Swain’s here to stay! Thank you for the wonderful messages in response to the exciting news and for the fantastic support since I joined @itvcorrie It’s greatly appreciated #CoronationSt #Swain #LISA."

Corrie also shared the news on their social media pages and said: "DS Swain is here to stay #Corrie." And Sally was quick to respond. Writing in the comments section on Instagram, she said: "Hurrah! This is the best news ever! Top actress, wonderful human - can’t wait to see what happens next."
