Palm Royale (Season Finale) Episode 10 “Maxine Throws a Party” Recap:

A lot has taken place lately at Palm Beach. However, Palm Royale’s Season finale, episode 10, finally gives us the much-needed venting space with its showdown at the Beach Ball Night. After Evelyn manipulated Maxine to co-host the said party, it seems President Nixon will finally grace the event as showcased in the previous episode. However, the latest development also shows Norma asking Robert to marry her so that she can safeguard her sort of Dellacorte ‘empire’ after she is gone. As Norma is particularly not fond of Maxine and her husband, it seems everyone has been just toiling her from one side to another as per their business. Why? Because Norma believes old age practically diminishes a person’s capabilities and honor.

Next, we see Robert stepping into Herkimer’s shoes since everyone at the party is lured by the president’s arrival, who has only agreed to come to meet the astronaut. Unfortunately, post-Maxine and Herkimer’s awkward moment and his sudden departure are only ruining Maxine’s plan of events. Hence, she convinces Robert (in the name of Norma and the 50th grand ball night) to put on Herkimer’s astro-suit and pretend to be America’s hero that everyone has come to see.

On the other hand, Mary also managed to arrive at the party with a determination to kill the president despite the tight security lurking all around the venue. Evelyn learns from Mary that Linda has left for her ashram retreat, leaving the house all by itself, possibly enticing Evelyn to make her own plans with Eddie. Meanwhile, Virginia, who had managed not to get arrested along with the ‘protestor’ group, enters the Rollins residence only to get locked inside with her friend in one of the rooms Marry had locked Linda.

What does Dinah learn about Perry?

Soon, the guests begin to arrive, and we see Evelyn and Douglas bantering with each other as Douglas reveals his plan to collaborate with Pinky. When Dinah makes an entry with her new wheelchair-bound beau, Axel, she finds Evelyn and Eddie openly locking lips, making her feel betrayed and furious. Next, we see Evelyn and Dinah fighting over Eddie; however, Maxine intervenes, suggesting the women behave properly as there are more important things to worry about. But Dinah and Evelyn are quick to blame Maxine for being the root of everyone’s problems and how her presence in the town has literally dismantled everything.

However, things suddenly change for Dinah when she finds her husband, Perry, roaming around at the party. It turns out that instead of fuming over his wife for finding a new husband, Perry is actually proud of Dinah for making Axel more accessible to him since he is gathering intel on the old man who happened to be one of the royal fugitives of the Palm Beach. In order to save his ass from getting imprisoned for the long term, Perry has agreed to the terms of FBI agents to wear a hidden wire and source intel from the party guests.

Later, Maxine comes to know that Douglas is pretty serious about giving up the Dellacorte mansion in order to build a club with Pinky. Raquel even excitedly tells Maxine that she intends to announce the big news later in the party since no one will be interested afterwards. However, Maxine takes charge by stating that without her consent, nothing will take place. This makes Douglas try to sweet talk to his wife as usual, who eventually agrees after seeing her husband is desperate to leave behind a legacy that people would talk about in the future.

Unraveling Secrets at Beach Ball Night

Meanwhile, we briefly see Norma using her cunning, soft-spoken, assuring tricks to persuade Mitzy to share the dark secrets that have been troubling her, making her decide to leave the town for New York. While Linda and Virginia hang out waiting to be rescued, we find out that Virginia is, in fact, part of a team that spied on the feminist groups who worked against the town system. Maxine learns from Ann, who is now well-recovered, that somehow, the grasshopper drink that initially for Maxine (made by Douglas) spiked her insulin levels. Maxine figures out that it was Norma who tried to kill her before (throwing her off the yacht and spiking her drinks). Evelyn also realizes that Norma is not her well-wisher when she tries to deeply hurt Evelyn by demeaning her and saying really nasty things. This is when Maxine confronts Norma after being warned by Evelyn about saving herself from Norma, who is trying every means to be on safe grounds by eliminating possible threats.

Despite Maxine trying to put sense about how she has always put Norma first over everything, Norma tries to belittle Maxine by reminding her that she can never be part of their family. However, Maxine is determined and tells her that she has agreed to give up the mansion to Douglas’ plans with Pinky to develop a club similar to Palm Beach Club. Later, Evelyn decides to go back to the Rollins residence along with Eddie after thoroughly being done with the mayhem of the party. After showing her kinky side to Eddie, Evelyn then shares with him the real truth that she neither has money nor a house for them. However, their little conversation gets interrupted when Linda and Virginia scream for help after hearing Evelyn’s sexy songs in the background. Evelyn makes a deal with Linda about getting a part of her property and finances and lets the two women out of the room as she learns about Mary’s plan to kill the president.

Who is Agnes?

Later at the party, with only 10 minutes until President Nixon’s arrival, Ann decides to take the stage to honor Norma for the 50th anniversary of the Grand Beach Ball. Meanwhile, Robert approaches Axel, who had a crush on Norma while they were growing up and studying together at the same boarding school. Axel confides in Robert, revealing that when he met Norma again in town, she seemed to have undergone a complete transformation, presenting herself as a stranger. It comes to light that Norma’s former roommate, Agnes, who was diabetic, died mysteriously by falling down the stairs. Following this incident, Norma’s father sent her away to Palm Beach. Robert realizes that Norma also has diabetes. So the question arises: is Norma lying about her identity, and could she actually be Agnes?

Disheartened by the revelation about Norma (or Agnes), Robert retreats to his pool house, where he is followed by FBI officer Tom. It transpires that Tom is living a double life: he is closeted gay and married to his high school crush, with whom he has two children. Despite this truth, Robert and Tom proceed to share a passionate kiss.

Palm Royale (Season Finale) Episode 10 “Maxine Throws a Party” Ending Explained:

Does Maxine find out about Douglas and Mitzy’s affair?

Just as Maxine prepares for her performance, the president arrives. Mitzy shares with Maxine that she is pregnant. Concerned for her friend, Maxine advises Mitzy not to be scared and to confront the man responsible for her worries. Later, when Maxine takes the stage, she sees Mitzy speaking to a worried Douglas, making her realize who Mitzy was referring to regarding her pregnancy. This upsets Maxine, completely shattering her reality. During her big speech and performance, she slowly exposes the town’s hidden secrets, expressing how everyone is driven by personal benefits and openly backstabbing their friends for it.

Is Robert Dead?

Meanwhile, Mary, who had been standing on the podium, aims her gun at the president with the intention of killing him. However, Linda intervenes, causing Mary to miss her target and mistakenly shoot Robert, who tries to shield Maxine from the ensuing chaos when the president decides to leave the unsuccessful event.

The ending of Palm Royale (Season Finale) Episode 10 leaves us on a cliffhanger, with Robert lying on the stage staircase after being shot and Maxine being held by security personnel due to the ensuing chaos. While Maxine helplessly cries for her friend Robert, who gasps for breath, Linda, on the other hand, gets caught by the police after Mary makes a run from the scene. Unfortunately, Linda was in the wrong place at the wrong time, with Mary’s gun lying next to her, possibly leading to her being implicated in shooting the president.

Will there be Palm Royale Season 2?

The way the last sequence builds up in the Palm Royale season finale, it is pretty evident that the creators are going to delve deeper into what will happen with Linda, considering she has been caught along with the evidence. The dynamics between Maxine and Douglas will also be further explored now that the big secret is out. And more importantly, Norma (Agnes) will take center stage for the show, especially since Axel has already revealed her history to Robert. As far as Robert’s character is concerned, I don’t think the creators are going to kill off his role, as he is the prime clue about Norma’s hidden identity (there is a brief moment where Robert walks up to Norma and mentions the name ‘Agnes’ making Norma feel vulnerable).

Having said this, these are just mere assumptions and since there has been no news from the creators announcing Palm Royale season 2 details, let’s hope that when they do, these factors will be addressed.
