May 21, 2024Relax without being bothered
While the staff was above and beyond levels of cooperation and friendliness (thank you Tanya and Delbin at front desk), the ocean water was sadly muddy due to a river nearby and prone to jellyfish in some designated swimming areas more than others. Catalina Island, however, (you need to buy a trip) has clear water and excellent snorkeling where you can see starfish, coral and plenty of fish. The food by way of buffets, beach and poolside bars, and reservation-only restaurants was excellent and has something for everyone. The French & Fish restaurants and Brazilian steakhouse stood out among those options. The main buffet staff under William supervision works wonderful. Great friendly team. The gym opens early and is well stocked and in excellent condition, and people run up and down the beach early in the morning for exercise. There is a sauna. The on-site fine cigar shop specializing in La Aurora E. Leon, Montecristo, Cabao and Romeo y Julieta cigars also carries good quality cigarettes like American Spirit. The beer on tap is Presidente which should always be ordered with a lime. There is a plaza full of souvenirs and accessory shops and locals set up tables in the main lobby once a week or so. Mostly, points were taken off for the brownish-milky ocean water swimming area with jellyfish and how early activities end and the bars close (11pm). There was little to no nightlife past that time and no alcohol to be found. The upside is that it is actually quiet at night, and nothing affects the sleeping of other residents. The privacy curtains are easily accessible and function perfectly to prevent the bright sun from waking you up too early. Between the good food available at all hours and an overall trend towards quiet and hospitality, you will have an extremely relaxing stay here. This is a very family friendly environment and very relaxed. You will make the most of your vacation and actually relax without being bothered.

The hotel was not quite 5 star in our experience - more 4 star due to a few issues we faced. Our initial room had a few maintenance issues: the door was not sealed and there were large gaps in the door, which would allow unwanted insects into the room, and the room had strong a paint fume smell, which made it difficult to comfortably stay in this room. However, we raised this with the reception staff and after attempts to rectify these issues we were moved rooms, which we found no issues with. The sea was brown when we went due to a local river flowing into the sea, which we weren’t aware of before we booked the holiday, otherwise we would have booked a different resort. Additionally, we attempted to eat in the snack bar, however, as the snack bar is open flies would be flying around and sit on the food and tables, which was quite off putting. However, the buffet is indoors and we found no issues with flies or the quality of the food. All staff at this hotel were friendly and provided quality service. Overall, we enjoyed the holiday but were disappointed with a few issues faced.

May 15, 2024Worst Resort in the Dominican Republic! Don’t go there!
My sisters and I planned this vacation to this resorts a few months ago and we were so looking forward to arriving here. We arrived today and a bunch of people at the airport were warning us that this place is a dump and suggested we go somewhere else. We thought we will give it a chance since we already paid for this trip and stay. We checked in to this resort today, and let me tell you, this place is exactly what we were told at the airport! It’s a disgusting hole! There were dead roaches on the floor of the room. The room smells awful and the staff are very unfriendly and unprofessional. It’s advertised as an all inclusive, but we are being asked to pay for our drinks. They advertised that there are 6 restaurants, but there is only 3 and the worst buffet you will ever experience. We are here for 5 days and we were told that we can only make 2 dinner reservation during our entire stay, so we have no choice but to eat our meals at their buffet. It’s the worst food you will ever have! So nasty! I ordered a glass of wine at the buffet restaurant, and there was a huge fly that fell out of the bottle the waiter poured it from. I told the waiter the fly came out of the bottle and he was try to pour me another glass from the same bottle the fly fell out of. There were flies on the food in the buffet. They advertise that they have a casino, which is basically a small room with about 3 tables and a few slot machines, most of which don’t work. I am going to try to get transferred to another resort. I am so grossed out by this resort and so very disappointed! For anyone planning a trip to the Dominican Republic, STAY AWAY FROM THE BAHIA PRINCIPE GRAND, LA ROMANA! It’s NASTY! We are going to try to transfer to another resort. Wish us luck! Beyond disappointed with this Resort!

I am currently on day 6 of a 14 day stay at this hotel and I can honestly say that it is absolutely AMAZING‼️ I booked last year without reading the reviews on here and the Facebook group and when I did read them I thought I'd made a terrible mistake. However, I do not have one single negative comment to make about it at all! The cleanliness is far beyond my expectations. The food is phenomenal with plenty of choice. The bar and drinks are fantastic and plentiful. The grounds are kept to an exceptional standard and the staff are truly wonderful 🩵 I am so happy that I booked this hotel and I have recommended it to all of my friends ☺️

Place only looks pretty ... downhill from there
This place only looks pretty.. no hot water ,staff is rude .. food is horrible.. (mexican night is literally worse then el paso taco kit )...and they alter the liquor .. my bf got sick and was acting erraticly .. do your research on this hotel before you book ..RUN RUN RUN
