WORCESTER, MA (May 11, 2024) -- The Tufts University women's track and field squad finished action at the New England Intercollegiate Amatuer Athletics Association (NEICAAA) Saturday afternoon, as the Jumbos took 12th place overall with 24.5 points in a field of mostly Division I teams at The College of Holy Cross.
In the 400 hurdle finals, junior
Emma Smith scored for the Jumbos as she added five points to the team total with a time of 1:03.45 for fourth place. Sophomore
Lexi Dean also tallied points thanks to her sixth-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase, registering a time of 11:33.10. In the 1500 meters, first-year
Sonia Olson was 26th overall with a time of 4:49.32.
The triple jump saw junior
Jordan Andrew finish fourth overall after her season-best wind-aided leap of 11.88 meters to chalk up five points. Junior
Sarah Pillone was also 15th in the triple jump after tallying a mark of 11.09 meters.
First-year
Lexi King took 16th place in the high jump after clearing 1.54 meters on her second attempt. King would have three shots at 1.59 meters, but couldn't quite get over the bar to finish with the 5' 0.5" height.
Tufts will likely head to a few last chance meets this week before the announcement of the NCAA Championships field Friday, May 17.
