Is the stage lighting...uniquely set up for this tour?

Questions

Not a complaint, just an observation. After watching a lot of the videos from this current tour, there's something strange but I can't completely put my finger on.

The lighting seems to either frequently be a bathing of the stage in one color, green/red/etc, or almost a house lights on thing and not too much in the middle of those. Is that to accentuate the screen more? Nothing wrong with color bathes or lights on, great for certain moods.

Watching a lot of the videos from last night, there were floor lights in the wings that would go on periodically which just seems odd. They were mildly distracting to me viewing at home. To anyone viewing the stage from a side angle, we're they distracting at all? Did you even notice them? Sometimes it seems like I'm watching a tech rehearsal more than a show regarding the lighting.

Is there not a standard lighting rig above the stage? Is that because of the screen? Is it just a stylistic choice?

So far they're kicking ass on this tour, the shows have been incredible! They're all so "on" this tour and invigorated! I'm loving the performances and the album!! This is definitely a peak era for them imo. Just curious about the lighting, not trying to be negative.

Oh, to offset some of the predictable comments, yes, I'm familiar with Pearl Jam. I've been a fan since the beginning. Yes, I've been to concerts before. Yes, I understand that Pearl Jam is a unique band live. Yes, I've seen them live before. And if you just think i'm complaining or don't like the post, you don't have to respond. 🙂

Not sure about the lighting but Rob Sheridan is doing visuals. He’s an incredible artist and worked with NIN for years.

Didn’t know Rob is doing the visuals, that’s awesome.

He did do some awesome stuff for nails :)

I was there and several times the spotlight was slow to shine on Ed or whomever needed it. I thought that was odd. At least once he was in the dark for a few seconds when he stepped to the front of the stage.

My mom and I weren’t a fan of the lighting for the first 3 or 4 songs because from the nosebleeds it was so dim we couldn’t see anything. Once they had stuff on the big screen it was much better

Thank you. Yeah it seems that way in videos.

I think it's intentionally backlit for a silhouette effect

I was wondering if it had something to do with the sun rising and setting.

Sadly it did not translate that way for those of us waaaay up there, but after they started putting it on the big screen it wasn’t an issue
