On May 8, BOC U.S.A. hosted the promotional conference for the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) and Hongqiao International Economic Forum. Attendees and speakers included Huang Ping, Consul General of China in New York; Sun Chenghai, Deputy Director General of the China International Import Expo Bureau; Hu Wei, CEO & President of the Bank of China U.S.A. and Chairman of the China General Chamber of Commerce U.S.A. (CGCC USA) and Zheng Yi, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai; Caroline Berson, Vice President of Global Public Policy and Government Affairs at PepsiCo; Jane Lauder, Executive Vice President of Enterprise Marketing and Chief Data Officer at Estée Lauder; and Neeraj Sahai, President of Dun & Bradstreet International. Over 100 representatives from U.S. businesses, trade associations, investment promotion agencies, and media attended the event.

Huang Ping, Consul General of China in New York, emphasized that despite the ups and downs in the 45 years since the two nations established diplomatic relations, the bilateral ties have been moving forward and overall progress is ongoing. Since the meeting between President Xi and President Biden in San Francisco last November, China-U.S. relations have entered a new stage, creating new opportunities for bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The CIIE promotes the import of high-quality U.S. goods and services to meet the growing demands of the Chinese people, representing the best example of a win-win relationship. He hopes that more US companies will continue to fully leverage the opportunities provided by the CIIE and enjoy a greater share of the Chinese consumer market, achieving mutual benefits and success.

Sun Chenghai, Deputy Director General of the China International Import Expo Bureau, highlighted in his speech that as the world's first national-level expo focused on imports, the CIIE aims to promote high-quality imported goods and services. He hopes more U.S. businesses will show interest in the CIIE and Hongqiao Forum, feeling the real pulse of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation by working together to promote healthy and positive trade relations between the two nations.

Hu Wei, CEO & President of the Bank of China U.S.A and Chairman of CGCC USA emphasized that as the only strategic partner of the CIIE, the Bank of China has always supported its development. Since the first CIIE, Bank of China has mobilized its entire group to support the preparation work, providing comprehensive services such as roadshow support, one-on-one matchmaking, on-site financing and translation services. Historically, Bank of China U.S.A. has enthusiastically assisted the CIIE Bureau in hosting promotional activities in the U.S. Mr. Hu hopes that U.S. companies will continue to seize the opportunity to deepen cooperation with China through the CIIE platform. The Bank of China New York Branch will continue to provide professional, efficient, and high-quality financial services to U.S. businesses participating in the expo, leveraging its international and cross-border institutional strengths. Together with CGCC USA, Bank of China U.S.A. will continue to facilitate trade exchanges between Chinese and American companies and serve as a bridge for economic and trade relations between the two nations.

Zheng Yi, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, introduced the role of the Chamber in organizing companies to participate in the CIIE. He noted that last year, for the first time, the U.S. federal government and the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai jointly organized U.S. businesses to participate in the CIIE, drawing significant media attention, and the participating companies achieved notable economic results. This year, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai will join forces with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to organize U.S. SMEs to participate in the 7th CIIE, setting up a food and agriculture pavilion.

Some representatives of American companies participating in the CIIE shared their insights into the positive role the CIIE has played in expanding their business in the Chinese market. During the event, four U.S. companies - Mevion Medical Systems, Berkshire Blanket, Dun & Bradstreet, and ACHR West Inc. - signed participation contracts or memorandums of cooperation with the China International Import Expo Bureau for the 7th CIIE.

The event was hosted by the China International Import Expo Bureau, the Secretariat of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), with the support of the Consulate General of China in New York, the China General Chamber of Commerce in the U.S., and the Bank of China U.S.A.
