Is there a slasher film where more named characters survive than Thanksgiving?
Jess.
Scuba.
Gabby.
Drug dealer guy. (Didn't say I KNEW all their names)
Bobby.
Ryan.
Jess's dad.
Detective.
New deputy.
Kid who wrote Evan's paper.
Guy whose wife got killed.
I'll give them a pass on Yulia's dad and the other cops, I guess, since The Carver didn't really have a bone to pick with them. But seriously... the OG Scream movies had the Big Three (with assorted add-ons from film to film). The new ones have the Core Four. And Thanksgiving has... Evan's Eleven?
SPOILER-Y Theory: (Just by the by) -- There are actually three killers in the film. Sheriff Newlon, Mitch, and Bobby. Newlon tried to double-cross Bobby so he could frame him (classic slasher-partner betrayal), resulting in him getting clobbered. Newlon and Mitch will plot a new series of murders in the sequel, with Bobby not being revealed as a killer til the very end, setting up a third film.
It honestly reminded me of that movie Ma with Octavia Spencer. Almost all of the teenager characters survive, and surprisingly quite a bit of the adult characters survive as well. And both leave you with a feeling of “…that’s it?”
Yea, nobody starts to die until way late in the movie then its basically over. It was a let down.
April Fool's Day, basically the twist is that this was a horror themed attraction and nobody was actually killed.
Kind of a cheat because of the twist.
Were there even eleven characters in this movie?
April Fool's Day (1986)
Umm... Ginny. Ginny's boyfriend. Blonde girl. Clayton Rohner. Muffy. Uptight pregnant chick. Biff.
Are there other characters in this?
It's been a few years since I watched it, but I think there were 9 friends. So guess not 11, but still a lot!
A higher percentage, to be sure.
Yeah, 100% survival is gonna be hard to beat in a slasher.
I actually like that they left so many survivors in Thanksgiving. The body count is already pretty high and it sets the table well for part 2.
"There will be no leftovers!"
So they're just gonna throw all that out? Wasteful.
My only complaint with the film, when only 25% of your main cast is killed in a slasher film..that’s a pretty shitty slasher villain.
It’s obvious though this was intentional because they wanted to set them up as victims in the sequel.
Cry Wolf. Most of the people there not end up getting killed because all the kills are fake
Scream 6
The Core Four.
Gale.
Kirby.
New boyfriend.
Even if you count "Guy who gets tased at party" that's only eight.
