A power outage affecting most of downtown and traffic lights across the area began at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Crown corporation said on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 12:48 p.m. that crews were dealing with an underground equipment fire beneath Albert Street that might result in the power being turned off. Hydro later said the outage would begin at 1:30 p.m. and shared a map of the affected area.
The fire has been extinguished.
Hydro said it’s not known how long the power will be out for.
