Weird question but...

Misc.

Are there any bands in particular that take a lot from folk rock? Like have an infusion of folk with the heavier elements found in some grunge music. I know Pearl Jam has some of those elements, but I'm talking more stripped back and less polished.

Not a weird question, I actually like it a lot, because it’s more original and thought provoking than 90% of the stuff I see here.

The Walkabouts are one band that came to mind, but I’m sure there are more. I’ll have a think..

Days of the New's Red album is a bit more grungy compared to Yellow and Green.

I'd start with Blind Melon personally

mathew good was a folk singer and his songs are similar. born losers for example

The Posies have a folk and 60s pop sensibility.

Dinosaur Jr. Not "grunge" proper but hugely influential to the scene, also Meat Puppets, Dead Moon
