Columbus police have told ABC 6 that a suspect was going down South Champion Avenue the wrong way when they almost hit one police cruiser at Whittier Street.

The suspect then went on to T-bone another police cruiser near Stanley and South Champion Avenue. The two officer involved in that crash were taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.

Police are currently investigating the two scenes connected to this incident.

Michele Freeman says she was startled by a loud noise outside her home. When she went outside, she saw a CPD police cruiser had crashed into her parked car.

All I heard was a big boom," Freeman said. "I came out and I seen... that (points to car). My car got hit."

Freeman says she wasn't happy, but she was worried about the officers. She says she saw them as they were getting pulled from the car and transported to the hospital.

I wasn't happy, but I just wanted to make sure the officers were okay. Once they got out the car, you could tell they weren't in the best shape."

"When I heard we have two officers struck, especially after a violent weekend, our hearts go out to them," Commander Mark Denner with the CPD Homicide Bureau said.

Denner says they are working to figure out exactly what happened in the crash. They did arrest the suspect, and are trying to figure out if the suspect was under the influence or driving at a high rate of speed.
