Michael P. Burke

September 27, 1961 – May 8, 2024

Michael P. Burke, a lifelong local area resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Fishkill. He was 62.

He was born in Beacon on September 27, 1961, and graduated from John Jay Senior High School. For more than 30 years, Michael worked as a Motor Equipment Operator for the Town of Fishkill Highway Department. He retired in 2018, and then went on to work as a delivery driver for Devitt’s Nursery & Supply in New Windsor until 2023.

Michael was a dedicated Life Member of Slater Chemical Fire Company in Glenham, where he served as Chief from 1995 – 2001. He also volunteered for Fishkill Protection Engine Company.

He was an avid fan of Dirt-Modified Racing and enjoyed hunting. More than anything else, Michael cherished being a grandfather and spending time with his grandson.

On June 8, 1985, he married Florence “Flossie” Burke in East Fishkill. Flossie predeceased him on June 16, 2020.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Burke & his wife Christina of Fishkill; his daughter, Courtney Burke of Florida; his grandson, Jackson Burke; his mother, Patricia Way of Florida; his sister, Pame Keil; as well as several nieces & nephews and many other loving relatives & friends.

Calling hours will be held from 12pm to 2pm on Sunday, May 19 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A firematic memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., followed by a procession to Slater Chemical Fire Co. in Glenham.
