National Cereals and Produce Board coach Bryan Mathews has hailed his charges for bagging maximum points in their Kenya Handball Federation league matches.

The Millers won their two-weekend games and pushed close to league leaders Ulinzi. They are second with 36 points compared to the soldiers with 37.

"We came for four points this weekend and we got them. Our defence was good in the first half but a little shaky at the beginning of the second half," said Coach Bryan Mathews.

He added, "Our goalkeeper was good and made 60 per cent saves. The men did well."

Desert Scorpions defeated Young City 36-29. Arnold Mutuku shot 11 goals and Andrew Wandera added five for the winners.

Manyange Dickson grabbed seven and Saulo Mwaniki six for the losers who trailed 24-14 at halftime.

Boomerang eclipsed Engineers 33-30 as Austine Ochieng and Joachim Onyango registered six goals each.

National Youth Service beat Boomerang 30-27 as Collins Oduor scored eight for NYS and Joshua Onyango managed eight.

General Service Unit GSU clobbered Technical University of Kenya (TUK) 42-22 behind  Christopher Ambuchi who nailed 13 goals.NYS had eight goals from Denis Kiptanui as they blanked Nanyuki 38-34.

Desmond Kipkoech scored the loser's 11. Strathmore University felled Young City 27-17 in a game that saw Felix Omondi drop eight goals. Joel Musa had City's six.
