By April Glover|

It's been a monumental week for Prince Harry.

The Duke of Sussex made his official return to his homeland in the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, a visit that invited endless speculation over a possible reunion with King Charles III and his brother, William, Prince of Wales.

But what some royal fans didn't realise about this very special visit was that another important family reunion happened in London.

It's easy to forget that Harry has plenty of other reasons to return to the UK aside from heading directly to the palace.

After his short time in the UK during which he attended a service and greeted members of the public, Harry flew to Nigeria with his wife, Meghan Markle, for a visit to champion mental health for young people affected by conflicts and to promote the Invictus Games

It came just days after Harry and Meghan's son Prince Archie celebrated his fifth birthday, a milestone that came and went without any public acknowledgement from the royal family.

This wasn't entirely unexpected and we explained the reasons why the royals have traditionally preferred to not publicly mark Archie and his sister Lilibet's birthday.

While he didn't get the chance to spend time with his son, King Charles has been busy with his own engagements.

The King's return the public duties has been a roaring success, with the monarch marking his grand foray back with the annual Buckingham Palace garden party, which saw plenty of senior royals come together.

While Charles has long been rumoured to prefer a "slimmed down" monarchy, the past year's events have proved to us that the King needs his wider family more than ever.

Since his coronation this time last year, His Majesty has made no moves to prune the branches of the royal family tree.

Queen Mary and King Frederik took part in their very first state visit as Danish monarchs after arriving in Sweden.

After sailing on a gilded Swedish royal barge to the Royal Palace, they met King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia.

It was a brilliant coming together of two historic European monarchies and a wonderful moment for Australia's own Queen Mary.
